English language test preparation

Get ready for your IELTS test and prepare to thrive at university.

The suite of International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test preparation courses, provided by Macquarie University, offers an online, interactive, and flexible approach to prepare you for your IELTS test.

Preparing for your IELTS test is a great way to improve your English before you study at uni:

  • Gain confidence experimenting with a range of language development activities to get ready for your IELTS test.
  • Work at your own pace, and learn skills and strategies to help you pass your test.

How it works

We offer four IELTS test preparation courses that cover reading, writing, listening and speaking English.

You can study each course individually, or you can enrol in the full program and study all four courses together.

Study at your own pace

Your courses are available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Usually, one course takes most students about 25 hours to complete—but you get up to 30 days to complete your studies.

When you enrol in the program of all four courses, you’ll have up to 90 days to complete your studies.

Activities and feedback

You’ll be practising questions like those on the IELTS test and getting advice on how to improve your answers.

Each course follows a series of steps that includes teaching points, explanations, examples and practical activities. You’ll build your language skills with 350 interactive tasks across the four courses.

As you work through each task, you’ll receive feedback on your performance and advice on areas for improvement. You’ll also have the opportunity to practise questions that are similar to those in the IELTS test.

The feedback that you receive for each task will include explanations, reasons for correct or incorrect answers and hints to help you find correct answers. During the Speaking and Writing courses, you'll also have access to an online tutor.
